INITIAL OFFERING When you receive your offering envelopes, one of the first envelopes, called "Initial Offering," is included to help cover the cost of the envelopes. Thanks for remembering!
WHAT IS DISCRETIONARY SUNDAY? For a number of years, the first Sunday of each month has been given this designation to provide direct assistance to needy people through the Gabriel Project, a ministry that pools discretionary funds from several Central Hillside churches. In addition to regular offering envelopes, members and friends of Gloria Dei are encouraged to contribute to this effort by writing an additional check with "Gabriel Project" in the memo, or by an additional contribution of cash since all loose money in the offering plates will go toward this important outreach ministry. Many thanks to those who regularly contribute, and may God continue to bless your prayerful consideration of support.
WISH LIST The
Council has identified some items that would be beneficial to increase
the effectiveness of our ministry but are not included in the 2008
budget. You are welcome to consider a gift in any amount - above and
beyond your regular offering - toward any of these items. Organ Renovation - $70,000 (about $11,000 already designated for this) New Office Copier - $230/month, $2760 annual increased cost New Office Computer System - $5800 initial purchase, $144 annual backup fee Building Maintenance Fund - $34,000
SPECIAL!!!!! This spring Eldora had a "milestone" birthday. Lets keep her birthday celebration going.... She has made it known that she wants no gifts but the gift of Lutheran World Relief Sewing Kits. So, to that end, here is what is required to assemble a sewing kit (or more) to honor her giving spirit: 3 yards of cotton or cotton blend fabric (at least 45 inches wide). If 36 inches, make it four yards. 1 package of needles 1 spool of matching thread 6 matching buttons (approx 1/2") Bundle together inside the fabric and tie with a string, ribbon or strip of fabric. Don't use plastic bags. Bring to Gloria Dei.
