SERVICE AND WITNESS COMMITTEE
The Gloria Dei Service and Witness Committee works toward blending
our church community with the community of the Central Hillside. Within
the congregation, small gifts, cards and remembrances are provided for
those who can no longer attend services on a regular basis. The Eve
Circle supports this ministry. Sponsorship of new-member activities,
coffee hours and other congregational events are Service and Witness
activities.
Outreach is important as we work with C.H.U.M., (the Gabriel
Project), Habitat for Humanity, LSS, (the Renaissance House), Lutherans
Concerned, Opening Our Doors and other community agencies and
activities as appropriate.
Sponsorship of the Fourth Saturday Community Breakfast is the
latest activity being generated by the Committee. New members are
always welcome. Meetings are the 1st Tuesday of each month at 5:00 p.
m. at Gloria Dei.
Our
new CHUM delegates are Joan Gunderson and Per Wickstrom. Pastor David
remains as the clergy representative from Gloria Dei. Thanks to Mary
Savolainen, Eldora Recksiedler and Carol Kelley for their contributions
as the CHUM delegates during the past several years.
New acting
co-chairs for the Service and Witness Committee are Sharon Stenberg and
Tom Uecker. They are the council representatives on the committee.

SERVICE AND WITNESS AT GLORIA DEI continued
We feel that this is a very important outreach of our
congregation. In order to keep it going we will continue to need your
help. We can use financial contributions and also help on Saturday
mornings. If you are able, please consider helping at least one
Saturday during the year. Breakfast is served from 9:00 to 10:30.
Workers are needed from about 8:00 a.m. to 11:00 which includes prep
time and clean up. There is a sign up sheet near the coffee table
during coffee hour. It is not difficult, it is fun, and it is
rewarding. You can even help yourself to a hearty breakfast!
At
this time the Service and Witness Committee would like to thank all of
those who have enabled us to celebrate more than 31/2 years of Community
breakfasts. We have had a dedicated group of workers who have arrived
cheerfully on Saturday mornings ready to get to work. We have had
contributions of money, food items, griddles, fry pans, bowls, cooking
utensils, etc. to allow us to carry out the program. A HUGE THANKS TO
ALL WHO HAVE HELPED IN ANY WAY. YOU ARE GREAT!!
