+ Good Samaritan Sunday – 1
In his famous parable (Luke 10), Jesus lifts up the compassionate actions of a Samaritan toward a needy person for his disciples to follow. Our Service & Justice
Ministry wants to highlight two ways we can follow Jesus’ command to “go and do likewise” on the first Sunday of each month.
Grandma’s Marathon & Gabriel Fund
Each year in mid-June, Gloria Dei runners compete with Trinity Lutheran runners to raise money for Central Hillside families through the Gabriel Fund. We’re “running to keep people on their feet.” To pledge members who plan to run Grandma’s Marathon, the half-marathon, or 5k, or to volunteer at the CHUM Water Station at Fitger’s (Mile 24), contact Steve Dalager. The congregation with the most pledged gifts before the marathon gets to keep the “Oasis Cup” traveling trophy.
1. Our loose cash offering (and designated offerings) on the first Sunday has for several years gone to the Gabriel Fund, a ministry started by Gloria Dei and
other Central Hillside parishes and managed through CHUM, for direct assistance to the needy.
2. Canned food items can be brought to help replenish the CHUM Food Shelf, and brought forward as part of our offering.
