ELCA World Hunger Appeal

The World Hunger Appeal of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA, of which Gloria Dei is a member congregation), is a comprehensive and sustainable program that uses multiple strategies—relief, development, education, and advocacy—to address the root causes of hunger and poverty. Gifts above your regular offering marked “ELCA World Hunger” are welcome anytime during the year. But in March we have a special emphasis:

Have you ever noticed that Pastor David is 5 foot 10 inches tall? What would it look like if we as a congregation collected 70 inches of quarters during the month of March? If quarters have been mounting up around your home, “Pastor on a Stick” is ready to collect them. He will be waiting for you on Sunday mornings as we work to fill the coin tube with our quarters which in turn will help in our work toward relieving World Hunger. Watch for him at the top of the stairs in the Sanctuary each Sunday before Easter. Don't have quarters? Loose change (or dollars, too) will be turned into quarters by the "money changers" in the church. Remember: GOD'S MATH DOESN'T JUST ADD UP, IT MULTIPLIES !
